We have squirrels and birds competing for the same food source. The squirrels are ingenious
This is the bird way to approach the feeding station:
The squirrel approaches by first inspecting the most probable strategy - and jumping is not it. So he climbs down the support wires and then hangs there eating like there is no tomorrow
However the birds are happy to continue their air route to the feeder.
